Rainbow BRT is One Month Old!

Rainbow BRT completes one month of operations on 30 September since the launch of Sangamwadi-Vishrantwadi corridor. Commuters can experience high quality BRT stations, level boarding facility, real time bus arrival information and voice announcements on Rainbow BRT.

Alongside creation of infrastructure for high quality public transportation, the Rainbow BRT project is also helping enhance understanding of sustainable transportation. Here are some glimpses of a school programme carried out in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad over the last few months.

Completion of Complimentary (Free) Services on Sangamwadi-Vishrantwadi and Sangvi-Kiwale Corridors

From 10 September, regular paid services are operating on both corridors in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad for all routes. Over 5 lakh coupons were used in the complimentary period. Feedback has included appreciation for the infrastructure, smooth ride, level boarding etc. Difficulties have been reported with regard to information and displays, bus and station doors, congestion and frequency. Feedback has been obtained through passenger survey, field observations, Facebook and this website, emails etc. All the feedback received is being acted upon to help improve passenger experience. Rainbow BRT is being developed as a high quality, customer-oriented public bus transport service.

It is managed by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd and developed with the support of Pune Municipal Corporation and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Pune Traffic Police is providing the support for management of traffic for smooth operation of Rainbow BRT.

Bus Rapid Transit provides an integrated network of safer, faster, affordable and more efficient public transport. Dedicated lanes ensure that BRT buses are able to run efficiently and rapidly along their routes, helping passengers reach their destinations easily.
