BRTS was Initiated under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission of the Government of India. Pune in 2006 was the first city in India to implement and operationalize BRT. Ahmedabad BRT ‘Janmarg’ is the only system in India to have received International recognition from multiple institutions and agencies. Pune-Pimpri Chinchwad planned network of 115 km will be the largest in India.
